Why I Look Forward to Big Bang's Upcoming Concert?

Big Bang is one of the most popular and successful South Korean K-Pop boy bands. Although the group faced criticisms for not reaching the standards of the usual K-Pop boy bands back then, the group remained unwavering and continue to perform like any other boy band will do. And at last, Big Bang scored it big with their hit single “Lies” which remained at the top of Korean hit charts for weeks and followed by equally hit songs like “Last Farewell” and “HaruHaru.”

Before, I never had that much interest with K-Pop and its popular singers. I never paid attention to SNSD/Girl's Generation, Super Junior, 2NE1, Kara, 4Minute, Miss A, 2PM, and many more. I was always contented with listening to the songs of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, Mariah Carey, and many more.

However, Big Bang made me notice South Korea and K-Pop. Last year, I was able to go to the country and discovered many things. It's no wonder that the country has a booming economy. Everything is in order and the government is really taking notice and attention to its citizen. If I could write my essay on South Korea, it would be full of nice things.

Anyway, back to the topic as I write my essay here. Here are my reasons why I look forward to Big Bang's upcoming concert.

  1. Taeyang is my bias. I guess it means he's my crush in South Korea. I can see how he grooves smoothly and hopefully, he sings his hit single “I Need a Girl.”
  2. I heard that the members of Big Bang are all nice. It's time to see if it's true.
  3. My friends are Big Bang fans as well so we're going to have a really nice time.
  4. GD and Top are really cute guys and it would really be good to see them in person.
  5. I'm saving money to have front-row seats. There's no way I won't be looking forward to that concert.

And for your convenience, here are the pictures of the Big Bang members with their names.

Favorite Korean Boy Band of the Day: SHINee

In my previous posts, I have been very vocal about my support and love for K-Pop. However, I still fully support most American singers like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Jessie J., Maroon 5, and many more. But how can you not love these K-Pop singers and band when they all look cute and funny at the same time?

Let's start with one of the fast-rising and established K-Pop boy bands in South Korea, SHINee. SHINee or simply Shinee is a five-member boy band managed by SM Entertainment. The members include Onew as the leader, Jonghyun, Key, Minho, and Taemin. Here are the pictures in order so you can follow. Don't you just find them adorable?

Anyway, the group had been training at SM Entertainment for years before they debuted on May 25, 2008 with a hit single “Replay.” Most of the members were still students back then but Taemin (the youngest) already graduated last February 2012. Since their debut in 2008, the group received the much-needed media attention and even won the adoration of fans for not just being guys with the looks but guys with the looks and the talents.

In various articles and research paper I have read regarding the group, fans all over the world are sure that the group would attain more success and popularity especially when they're expanding to Japanese territory. With hit singles and charming personalities, SHINee can do and achieve just about everything they want.

Here are some music videos of SHINee:

Songs for Mothers That Would Definitely Make You Teary-Eyed

Mother's Day is one of the most celebrated events in the whole world. It's the special day to give thnaks and honor all the hard work that our mothers do for the whole family. And it's the counter-part of Father's Day which is the day that honors fathers all over the world. Mother's Day is usually celebrated in these months: March, April, and May.

Because various countries celebrate this event on different days and on different months, I made it my mission to compile some of the songs that celebrates the greatness and unconditional love mothers give to their children even when they have done something wrong. I know that because I am always thankful for the never-ending support my mom has given me all throughout the years.

I had a hard time on choosing the best songs for Mother's Day but here they are:

Mama by Spice Girls

Spice Girls was considered as one of the most successful girl groups in the history for having billion sales of album, commercials, hit songs, and being the icons of the 80s music scene. Their single “Stop” was their biggest hit and became a dance craze all over the world. The group was almost known for their catcht dance beats but they took their time recording for this song for moms all over the world, “Mama.”

I Turn to You by Christina Aguilera

I remember when I was as young as Christina Aguilera, I consider her my idol because of her true singing prowess. Her single “I Turn to You” ultimately melted the hearts of teenagers all over the world to be kind from then on to their loving mothers. The video that accompanies the song (the girl on the accident site being comforted by her mom) has an intelligent concept and will really make you cry.

Song for Mama by Boyz II Men

Remember of the time when all the boy bands were singing cute songs and making us dance with their catchy songs, Boyz II Men drifted far from that scene and concentrated with more mellow songs that has big impact to the fans over-all. “Song for Mama” is one of the constant favorites when it comes to Mother's Day songs because of the wonderful meaning it gives that ultimately touch the hearts of people on-site upon hearing it.

Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion

Celine Dion reached ultimate stardom via singing “My Heart will Go on” as the theme song for the 1997 blockbuster film, Titanic The Movie. But years later, another one of her songs became phenomenal as it gives off a feel-good feeling to people who hears it. “Because You Loved Me” stayed at the number one spot on most music charts all over the world.

Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler

If you haven't heard of or even watched the film “Beaches” then you're missing half of your life as it is one of the most popular comedy drama film that showcases the intensity of friendship. It even inspired the success of Bette Midler's “Wind Beneath My Wings” which not only targets the topic of friendship but also that of motherly love.

Here are my top picks of songs that can make mothers teary-eyed not only because of the melody but also because of the lyrics. Feel free to add some if there's something on your mind.

Photos of Unique Campus Art Exhibits

Art can spring from anywhere. More so, they can be developed and honed inside the four walls of a university. Took Medieval art as my minor back in college which was like 15 years ago and I remember that I spent every other weekend going to both small and large-scale art exhibits by and for college students. My passion for raw art began there and inspired me to not get a job that has nothing to do with art.

Small and intimate art exhibits are the best. They give the feeling of intimacy and privacy and individualism. And because of that, I feel like I can relax and be at my greatest point to write a review on some arts or even an essay paper. They are devoid of any business purpose and their primary intention is to feature their thoughts in the form of paintings and sculptures, the monetary rewards come in fiddle second or third.

And that is why I deemed to present you a collection of art exhibits on college grounds. Enjoy!

My Bad Bridesmaid Experiences

As we all know by now, weddings are wonderful events that ultimately celebrates the binding of two individuals in love with each other. Although a marriage is not necessary nowadays with the topic of live-ins and divorces, it still feels nice to share a wonderful moment with the person you love, your family, friends, and all the people who supports your relationship.

But enough about that because the real reason why we're writing this post down is to list the most awful things a bridesmaid may/must experience before, during, and after the most awaited event, the wedding.

I, for one, never really wanted to accept such position at the time because I was busy with my studies, college essays, graduation responsibilities, and everything. But because it was my wonderful female cousin getting married, I can't say I obliged but I still did.

At first, I thought I was just going to be one of the bridesmaid but I never thought that bridesmaids has a lot of things to do. Here are just some of the awful experiences I had as a bridesmaid.

  1. As a cousin and a friend, I only want the best for her. I went out of my way to accompany her and her friends to the cake-tasting, choosing the menu, and everything. But it seemed like humiliating a person was in the blood of her friends at that time but I just kept quiet.

  2. Another humiliating event was when we're choosing the gowns for the bridesmaids to wear.

  3. Bridal showers are always the main event before the female gets married. However, it is not fun when you get locked up “accidentally” in the hotel room while they're having the time of their lives.

  4. At the wedding, you meet a guy whom you think is worthy of your attention and feelings. Then he turns out to be in a relationship with one of the monster bridesmaid in the entourage.

  5. And finally, you got drunk so hard that you woke up in a stranger's bed! Thankfully, nothing happened at all.

And then with all these experiences, you just reach a point when you just want the wedding to happen and finish so you could sleep and go back to your old self again.
