Top 5 Songs Sure to Hit the K-Pop World This 2012!

For 2012, I am expecting a lot of new songs coming from my favorite K-Pop idols. SNSD is already enjoying international recognition from American fans and will probably strive harder with their promotions in the U.S. borders. Wonder Girls is not far behind because of their American film debut titled “The Wonder Girls,” an American made-for-TV movie. K-Pop world has never been this busy like this before but because of the strong and wonderful performances these idols are doing, they are able to establish a name in the US market.

For songs, there are a wide array of artists making their comebacks and coming up with beautiful and catchy songs for their fans. One of them is the South Korean boy group, Block B being managed by Cho PD under New Stardom. The group gained recognition due to their promotional single, “Freeze” and later a new mini-album for 2012.

I already heard their latest song, “Nanrina” which means I go crazy when translated in English. The guys performed in full power making them an equal with more established and popular boy groups. In most of my article critique where I compare two factors or two ideas, I often come up with opinions that may be positive for the first one and negative to the second one. But when I compare Block B with others, they seem to have an edge and could be on top in less than 2 to 3 years.

In 2011, the K-Pop world became a witness when Chocolat first performed their debut single titled “Syndrome.” The group became popular not because of their girlish charms and powerful performances but because of the mixed races of the members. For 2012, Chocolat brought to the world their music video of “One More Day” and I personally think that they did a great job by emerging from their too colorful performances to a more serious one.

Of all the idols who debuted in the last 2 years, Girl group SPICA launched and garnered much needed attention. The attention and anticipation that the girl group received is not because of their aegyo styles combined with electronic pop music (trick or formula for a successful K-Pop debut) but with their powerful song. “Russian Roulette” is a powerful song that showcases the member's strong vocals complete with a fresh and provocative MV.

One of the stars of Dream High 2, Ailee is one artist not only known for her beautiful renditions in her YouTube videos but also because of her stunning vocals. A former YouTube sensation, Ailee may just be a rookie but her debut single “Heaven” will make her star shine even brighter. Her angelic voice made justice to the song composed by the one and only Wheesung. Check out her video!
